وَأَنزَلْنَا إِلَيْكُمْ نُوراً مُّبِيناً
A hashtag “#quranbookclub,” has garnered significant attention on TikTok with 1.9 million views. This TikTok trend emerged among young Americans who are amazed by the resilience of the Palestinian people and are turning to the Quran in an effort to better understand what is happening in Gaza and express solidarity with Muslims of Palestine. The face of this trend was a 34-year-old woman from Chicago named Megan Rice. She established a “World Religion Book Club” on Discord and ultimately embraced Islam.
9/11 too led to a large number of people purchasing the Quran and subsequent reversions to Islam. Fortunately, there are those amongst us that seek real answers during trying times and distrust the adopted Western narratives. They see beyond the propaganda and rhetoric. These are the same people that choose to delve into the Quran to understand our motives and our strength in adversity which is the deep belief in Islam. However, the work to unravel the truth is a difficult one met with confusion and resistance.
For individuals like Megan Rice or the countless men and women who poured into the streets to show solidarity and seek answers, we owe it to them to provide the correct answers from Islam. The Quran reading TikTok trend and the pro-Palestine protests reflects a genuine desire among a significant number of young Americans to connect with Islam, driven by empathy and a quest for truth, and understanding.
Clearly, Islam, with its rational and strong belief system (Aqeeda), has the capacity to provide the desperately needed answers and solutions. Additionally, it has the ability to restrain the injustice and cruelty carried out by the West and its cronies. Western societies are seeking salvation from capitalist exploitation, racism, crime, drugs, depression, and corrupt rulers. The main thing missing is an alternative model we can point to that exemplifies the truths they are in need of. This alternative model of living, governance and law is the Caliphate. This divine system of Islam can provide harmony and prosperity by implementing practical solutions rooted in Islam as a clear light to eliminate the darknesses of the current world order.
يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قَدْ جَاءكُم بُرْهَانٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَأَنزَلْنَا إِلَيْكُمْ نُوراً مُّبِيناً
“O mankind, there has come to you a conclusive proof from your Lord, and We have sent down to you a clear light.” [An-Nisa 174]
