Uyghurs Muslims in Xinjiang Province

The sustained brutal repression of the Uyghurs Muslims in Xinjiang province meted out by the Chinese authorities, which includes indoctrination detention camps, physical and psychological abuse, and Orwellian style surveillance is well documented. It is granted that the United States uses such situations as a political football to put pressure on a country, in this case, China, while the United States itself has scant regard for the welfare of the Muslims in Xinjiang. However, it is still a tragic irony when the United States, no stranger to its own on-going intellectual, political and military global campaign against Muslims and Islam – publicly exposes and chastises the leadership across the Muslim world for their blatant disregard of the plight of the Muslims. Referring to the repression, Congressman Brad Sherman during a recent Congressional hearing stated, “We ought to especially call out the Muslim countries that are saying nothing…Whether that be Turkey, Pakistan, and the Gulf states. It is simply outrageous that they do so little to help the Rohingya and turn their back completely on Uyghurs.” What an indictment! While Islam has described political leadership as a shield and protector of the Muslims, the regimes across the Muslim world shield and protect their own political power, status and wealth.

To these rulers comes a severe warning over their blatant disregard and inaction. Ibn ‘Abbas narrated that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, «اتق دعوة المظلوم فإنه ليس بينها وبين الله حجاب» “Fear the du’a of the oppressed for between them and Allah there is no barrier.” (Agreed upon) To the Muslims of Xinjiang, have patience and perseverance for Allah (swt) Says: وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ بِشَيْءٍ مِّنَ الْخَوفْ وَالْجُوعِ وَنَقْصٍ مِّنَ الأَمَوَالِ وَالأنفُسِ وَالثَّمَرَاتِ وَبَشِّرِ الصَّابِرِينَ “And We will most certainly try you with somewhat of fear and hunger and loss of property and lives and fruits; and give good news to the patient.” (TMQ Al-Baqarah 2:155) يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ اصْبِرُواْ وَصَابِرُواْ وَرَابِطُواْ وَاتَّقُواْ اللّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ “O you who believe! Persevere and be more patient (than your enemy) and be careful of (your duty to) Allah, that you may be successful.” (TMQ Aal-Imran 3:200) Through the seeds of patience and perseverance will grow the determination to secure the lives, wealth and honor of the region under the shade of the righteous Khilafah.
