On Sunday, September 22nd, Narendra Modi attended a rally in Houston attended by 50,000 Indian Americans and Donald Trump. The rally marked the first time Modi addressed the issue of Kashmir internationally. Trump was given a rapturous welcome at the event. Trump stated, “Today we honor all of the brave American and Indian military service members who work together to safeguard our freedom. We are committed to protecting innocent civilians from the threat of ‘radical Islamic terrorism.’”
Comment:
The “Howdy Modi” event highlights the deep hatred by Modi who leads the Indian nationalist government and by the Trump administration. Both share Islamophobia that demonizes Muslims and falsely attributes terrorism to Islam. India has become a nation that has been gripped by intense Hindu nationalism, and its tentacles have spread to the Indian diaspora in America as well. The ‘butcher of Gujarat’ Modi along with “Islam hates us” Trump will continue to lead their supporters towards a burning hatred against Muslims and Islam. These sentiments were on display at the rally.
Modi used this rally to diffuse criticism of India’s crackdown in Kashmir by showing how popular his policies are among Indians. Imran Khan is naive to think that Trump will mediate the Kashmir crisis in favor of the oppressed Muslims of Kashmir. America works with India to further its strategic plans in the region, and it has given clear approval to India’s occupation of Kashmir.
Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى says:
وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَاءُ بَعْضٍ ۚ إِلَّا تَفْعَلُوهُ تَكُن فِتْنَةٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَفَسَادٌ كَبِيرٌ
And those who disbelieve are allies to one another, (and) if you (Muslims) do not do so (i.e. become allies, as one united block with one Khalifah), there will be Fitnah (wars, battles, polytheism, etc.) and oppression on earth, and a great mischief and corruption. (Al-Anfal 73)
It is clear that tyrants flock together, whether it is the US government administration, Modi, or the agent rulers of the Muslim world who give medals to the ‘butcher.’ Furthermore, seeking their help to resolve our issues is ludicrous. Allah ُسْبَحانَُه َوتََعالَى warns us in the above ayah that if we as an Ummah do not unite together under a single leadership, then the oppression and corruption will spread in this world.
