Yet again the level of atrocities faced by the Syrian people continues to escalate. The use of chemical weapons adds another horrifying chapter in Syrian conflict. There have been previous reports of chemical weapons being used, at least three times in the past week against civilians. Recent reports have tallied the death toll to at least 100 people and several hundreds injured. Graphic images of children suffocating and frothing at the mouth are unbearable to watch.
What is clear is the treachery and complete debauchery of Muslim rulers who rush to meet with Trump or Putin with a beggar’s bowl of servitude. The betrayal of the Ummah runs deep, keeping Muslim armies at bay from liberating Syria and using them instead to suppress and oppress the Ummah. Their complicity in the massacres is unquestionable. Moreover, Western powers have sided with the Syrian regime over past 6 years of this brutal conflict. One must realize that Bashar has been kept in power by the tacit approval of America and its deceitful peace process. The recent statement from Nikki Haley, the U.S. ambassador to the UN stating, “Assad is a war criminal [but] our priority is no longer to sit and focus on getting Assad out”, is a clear indication of allowing the Syrian regime to hold on to power at the expense of precious Muslim blood.
Muslims must realize that the Western governments, UN, and Arab league will not bring about a solution to this conflict. We must hold Muslim rulers accountable and push for Muslim armies to liberate Syria. We must advocate our Masajids and Imams to speak out and carry the call for the reestablishment of the Khilafah as the only true solution to the problems facing the Ummah.
